Oak
Friction Products Division is engaged in the high
quality manufacturing of friction products. We supply
cut piece, bonded and riveted friction parts to original
equipment manufacturers and industrial users. We manufacture
and re-manufacture all types of brake shoes, bands,
pads and clutch plates: from 96"diameter forging
press clutch plates to tiny brake shoes that would
fit in your pocket. We supply complete parts such
as friction rings, gear tooth facings and friction
pads as well as process customer-supplied components.
We stock virtually all types of molded, extruded,
sheeted and woven materials in thickness from .060
to 3 in. thick and can provide both metric and standard
sizes.
Other
capabilities include precision grinding and machining
of both finished parts and sheet lining to tolerances
of +/-.002 with closer tolerances available. We heat
clean and degrease metal parts and abrasive blast
them to prepare for bonding. Our bonding is done in
temperature controlled, programmable ovens, monitored
with recording thermographs
to insure a proper bond. Our production volumes range
from custom manufacture of one or two extremely large
clutch plates for a forging press to one million plus
parts per year for a washing machine manufacturer.
Our size capability ranges from 2 in OD band brakes
to 100 in. diameter clutch plates.
Our
roots as a company reach back to 1916 when we began
as a manufacturer of oak tanned leather belting. We
have evolved considerably since then but still work
to provide out customers with quality products delivered
on time. Our capabilities include redesign of existing
parts to take advantage of modern materials and manufacturing
methods. We are pioneers in the field of waterjet
cutting of friction materials which has enabled us
to save manufacturers significant time and money by
providing superior quality parts in remarkably short
periods of time. We have for example, electronically
received AutoCad files of required parts via the Internet
at noon and Next Day Air shipped the completed order
the same day.

Our
continuous process improvement has enabled us to substantially
improve our turnaround times. CAD and CAM systems, water
jet cutting, larger ovens and more sophisticated coating
and finishing operations have shortened our process
time considerably. Nonetheless we are constantly working
to improve what we feel are the quickest lead times
in our segment of the industry.
Our
water jet cutting capability allows us to save substantial
amount of set up and process time and has allowed
our customer's engineers the ability to redesign parts
to take advantage of shapes that were impossible to
produce only a few years ago.

bonding process is carefully monitored every step
of the way to insure you receive a high quality part,
on time, as economically as is currently possible
